My mother tongue is Russian, and I am currently learning Russian with my best friend from Russia. I can speak Russian well, and I am able to read Russian well. I can read Russian and I can speak it too.

I’m sure I’ll be able to write Russian well, and I’m sure Russian girls will be looking at me as a perfect candidate to write my mom tongue. It’s not like I’m going to have to learn Russian’s slang or speak it in a foreign language on some international trip. I will still be able to type Russian if I want to.

I remember someone once telling me that there are two different types of English. There’s the standard, and then there’s the more exotic, more ‘fancier’ variety. The standard English is pretty standard, but you can actually learn a lot from it and get the most out of it, so it’s a good thing to have.

But the standard English tends to have a few more words that don’t translate as much to Russian as the more exotic variety, and for this reason, most people think the more expensive standard English is the better. It’s not.
